Training for Partners

Training on children and young people’s participation

The TRAINING GROUP

  • A multi agency group of staff (The TRAINING GROUP) are meeting regularly to develop the delivery of participation training across the County

  • The TRAINING GROUP  consists of representatives from the Voluntary Sector, Notts County Council , District Council and Connexions

  • The group has met since 2006 and organised the very successful “Introduction to Children’s Participation pilot training” that took place in each district of the County in 2007

  • The TRAINING GROUP are currently working on three main areas of development.
    1. Introductory Training - Mainstreaming the “Introduction to Children’s Participation” course so this half day course is available to all workers working with children and young people in the County.
    2. Intermediate training – Training for specific groups of staff (bespoke training for specialist workers e.g. staff in extended services, staff working with disabled children etc.)
    3. Peer support/participation champions.-Bringing staff together who are delivering good practice on participation.
See the Champions Event Flyer for an event on April 22nd 2008.

Participation Works Training Sessions Listing

Free training event for colleagues from across the partnership who are interested in young people's participation

This event is part of the ongoing process of implementing the strategy for the participation of children and young people in Nottinghamshire, the Participation Strategy Group is now planning a free training event on Wednesday, 25th June, 2008 at Rainworth Community Centre. The training will look at a model of consulting with and using feedback from young people, looking at developing focussed questions to get the answers you need, asking the right young people as well as covering some of the research methods and techniques that may be used. The training will be particularly useful for colleagues at the early stages of consulting with service users, with a view to shaping future business plans and commissioning priorities.

In addition, the training will be supplemented by follow-up support from a consultant over the next six months, so if your service is planning to consult with young people within the next year this should prove extremely useful.

Places are limited, so to book a place, please contact Lucy Peel (lucy.peel@nottscc.gov.uk, tel. 01623 433199).
