The Student Apprenticeship links academic study with work based skills development. The content, structure, and delivery of the SA programme will be 'tailored' by the schools and FE colleges to meet the needs of the students, training provider and partnering company. Student Apprenticeships combine practical work with a structured training programme that gives individuals a nationally recognised qualification along with the experience they need to get 'the right job within the right company'.What is a Student Apprenticeship?
How it will work?Students will be able to apply for a Student Apprenticeship identified by training providers and companies and will be selected through the Student Apprenticeship partnership. The school will be involved in the selection and transition period and will provide individual support for the student by attending regular review meetings with relevant partners. Who is it for?14 to 16 year old students in full time school education, capable of gaining a Level 1 / 2 (or equivalent) qualification by the end of Year 11. Student Apprenticeships are available in a wide range of occupational areas including: Engineering, Business Administration, Information Technology, Construction, Health and Social Care. What Next?On completion of the Apprenticeship students will have had the opportunity to gain qualifications and valuable experience, thus gaining an advantage in their chosen career path. The programme will equip the student to move onto an Advanced Modern Apprenticeship, potentially with their host company. Should the student choose to move into another job, additional training, or further education, they will find that the skills they have gained will be equally valid.
