  • Contraception and Sexual Health (CASH - formerly known as Family Planning) services are for all ages. Although they are based on appointments, young people are invited to drop in and wait to be seen.
  • HC - Health Centres with a Contraception and Sexual health (CASH) clinic attached at the advertised times stated above.
  • GUM - Department of Sexual Health operates an appointment system for screening of sexually transmitted infections, those who require urgent assessment a non-appointment service is available.
  • Base 51 works with young people aged 12-25 years.
  • The Youth Offending Team offers contraception and sexual health services for YOT clients only, young people should speak to their case manager.
  • Free Emergency contraception for young people aged under 18 is available in all Community Pharmacies listed in the timetable. It will cost approximately £27 from other pharmacies if a young person is aged 16 or over. Under 16s can only access EHC from the pharmacies listed. The Pharmacies listed will only be able to provide free emergency contraception if a trained pharmacist is on duty. Please call first to check.
  • School Nurses also provide a range of sexual health services for young people including Clinic in a Box and School Based Health Services. School nurses can be contacted throughout the year via Janet Simmonds on 0115 986 1831 or Sheila Munks on 0115 928 7793. School Nurses in Secondary Schools are available to offer support/advice in schools and that most are now C-Card trained and act as registration points and all School Nurses are trained to issue Emergency Contraception.
  • Call NHS Direct for information on any health issue on 0845 4647.
  • All GP Practices will see a young person regarding a sexual health or contraception issue. GPs will see anyone in an emergency situation even though they are not registered with that practice.
  • Sexwise 0800 282930 www.ruthinking.com Free information about sexual health for young people. Sexwise also have a list of services in the city and county including an up to date list of C-Card registration sites.
  • Emergency Contraception is available from: all CASH services including young people's outreach clinics, GP, NHS Walk-in Centre, The Health Shop.
