Alternative Provision Update

A meeting was held in July with representatives from organisations across the city and county to initiate the development of a framework for alternative provision. The Framework will cover quality, funding and protocols with a working group established to work on its development.

The aim of the Framework is to support the delivery of provision that is of good quality and value for money. At the same time it will seek ways to build capacity and to make the quality provision more widely accessible to meet identified learner need.

The organisations represented on the working group are:

  • The Learning Skills Council
  • Nottinghamshire LEA
  • Nottingham City LEA
  • Connexions
  • Enable
  • NEBA

The aim is to produce a draft Framework and associated documentation by March 2005 in order to give all parties four months before the end of the school year to get feedback to this group. The revised Framework documents will then be issued to all involved in Alternative Provision in readiness for implementation from September 2005.

Communication will go out from this group at several key stages of its work. In the meantime members of the group will be contacting individual organisations to gather information. If you would like to be involved in this area of work or wish to make a general enquiry please see the contacts below:
