Wilkinsons wishes Worksop’s young people a merry Christmas

Wilkinsons Distributors, based at Manton Wood in Worksop, has donated over £800 worth of Dove, Lux and Lynx gift sets to Worksop’s Connexions Centre. The generous gesture is set to ensure that many young people in Worksop will enjoy a happier Christmas.

Connexions Nottinghamshire is the support service for all 13-19 year olds – up to 24 for those with special needs. The Connexions Nottinghamshire Worksop team of Personal Advisers works hard in and around Worksop to help young people by offering professional and confidential advice on a range of subjects from careers and education to drug abuse, homelessness and teenage pregnancy.

Wilkinsons were approached by Connexions Personal Adviser Michaela McMillan earlier this year for their help in providing gifts for young people who are living independently and may not receive many presents at this time of year.  The Worksop company’s response was overwhelming and they donated over 250 gift sets –  Dove and Lux for the girls and Lynx for the boys – to the Connexions service to give out as Christmas presents. 

Connexions Personal Advisers working at the Worksop office will determine which of the young people they work with are most in need of a gift.  The gifts will also be distributed at Centre Place in Worksop – a drop in centre for young people.

Personal Adviser Michaela McMillan says:  “We would like to say a very big thanks to Wilkinsons for their fantastic donation.  It’s an excellent example of a big local business working with and benefiting the community.  We work with young people from all over the Worksop area and those receiving these gifts will be absolutely thrilled.” 

All the gifts will be distributed throughout Worksop in the run up to Christmas.
