Connexions Direct has been a big success in Nottinghamshire since its launch a year ago.
Outside of the major conurbations (London, Birmingham, Manchester, etc), more young people from Nottinghamshire have contacted Connexions Direct's national advice line than from any other area of the country.
Recently, between 250 and 400 young people a month from the County and City have asked Direct for help, with e-mail and webchat the most popular formats.
Whilst the majority of enquiries are still about learning, careers and training, other issues raised include sexual health, suicide, self harm, pregnancy, leaving home, general health and friendships.
The message is clear that increasing numbers of young people are taking advantage of this expert advice service that is the only national global advice line for them, staffed by trained youth advice specialists.
Connexions Direct also take great pains to know and use a wealth of our local information and data to help them give relevant advice and referrals to the Nottinghamshire callers.
We see Connexions Direct as Nottinghamshire's 9th, satellite, Connexions Centre offering a remote, confidential advice service for those young people who can't or don't want to contact a PA, so please promote Direct with your students and get in touch if you want help to do that!
