New Career Guide for Disabled People

Skill: National Bureau for Students with Disabilities has produced a new career guide for disabled people - Into Nursing and Midwifery .

Through Into Nursing and Midwifery, Skill want to ensure that disabled people do not miss out on applying to their dream profession and are fully informed of how to go about applying and obtaining the support that they are entitled to.

The Into Nursing and Midwifery guide includes:

  • practical advice about routes into nursing and midwifery, funding, and the fitness to practise assessment
  • clear explanation of disabled people's legal rights
  • six inspiring profiles written by disabled people about their varied experiences of training and working in nursing and midwifery
  • a handy reference section listing helpful publications and organisations.

Please note that Skill is able to provide a free copy to disabled students or jobseekers up until 31 October 2005 (while stocks last) therefore you may wish to promote this guide when speaking with disabled young people and in any promotional materials that you may produce, such as a newsletter or email network.

From 1 November 2005 onwards young people will be able to purchase a copy for the discounted rate of £2.50 instead of the full price of £6.50. Copies can be ordered from Skill's website bookshop at www.skill.org.uk.
