The Connexions Bus has been out and about at two special events in Gedling and Edwinstowe recently...
…firstly, young people living in Netherfield, Carlton, Calverton and Arnold hopped on the bus for advice and real job and training vacancies from June 28th to July 2nd. Advisers from Connexions Nottinghamshire’s Gedling Team and Central Vacancy Unit were on hand to work with young people in these Gedling communities and Connexions will now try to build on the successes from this local campaign with other initiatives.
Later, on July 14th, a Connexions Bus Open Day at Edwinstowe saw Connexions advisers, Youth Service staff, PAYPs and young people from the village using the bus. This awareness raising event, introducing the buses facilities, resources and computers left many of the visitors planning to use the bus for future local events in the City and County.
The bus is ideal for running activities or as a support resource in remote locations and places without a resource base and some feedback suggests that many young people feel more comfortable using the bus than permanent Centres or school facilities.
