Connexions premises

Three types of Connexions premises will offer information, advice and guidance to 13-19 year olds:

One stop shop

Totally joined up operations, involving all relevant organisations under the one roof. The full range of information sources will be available at all times.

We are currently pursuing the development of 5 such outlets:

  • Carlton Street, Nottingham
  • The Acre, Kirkby
  • Regent Street, Mansfield
  • Newark (new premises)
  • Sutton (new extended provision)

First stop shop

Belonging to one of the partner agencies, and are able to signpost young people onto the appropriate agency for the support they require. The resources available will be paper type, ICT and personal contact with staff.

The following sites will operate this function:

  • Worksop
  • Retford
  • Hucknall
  • Eastwood
  • Monty Hind Training Centre

Access point

Present in most partner institutions, acting as a means of referring young people elsewhere for support from partner agencies. These will be sited in schools, colleges, youth centres, libraries and health centres. They may also be in locations where young people can obtain one-to-one advice and guidance or have access to ICT based information. Personal guidance will be available as a result of visits made by PAs to partner sites.

The following has been undertaken so far:

  • 10 pilot sites identified
  • Materials developed and produced
  • Draft operating standards produced
  • Voluntary Sector has identified 38 sites e.g. Base 51
  • We have 130 school and college sites identified
  • City Youth Service has identified 20 sites e.g. Club One

Connexions Bus

Provides the same level of support as a first stop shop in a more cost-effective way than procuring premises. It may also be possible to provide some specialist services on a rota or appointment basis.

A bus has been purchased through Skill's Holidays. The vehicle will have disabled access and be in full Connexions livery.
