Nottinghamshire Work Based Learning Awards 2006
“Leading the Way”

On the 25th January 2007 Nottinghamshire Training Network hosted an 'Oscar Style' Awards Evening for Work Based Learning at the East Midlands Conference Centre presented by 96 Trent FM’s Jo and Twiggy, with guest speaker Chris Banks, Chair of the Learning and Skills Council.

Chris Banks stated “You are hard proof of the fact that there are some very able and successful young people and young adults in this country!  While never becoming complacent, I would encourage you to pause and reflect on your achievements. Because each and every one of you is just the type of person this country needs to maintain and improve on its global position.”

The event was attended by some 400 people that included the 25 finalists, employers, parents, sponsors, Work Based Learning providers and guests.

For each Work Based Learning Award category there was a winner receiving a prize of £300 worth of the vouchers and a fabulous cut-glass trophy and two runners up, receiving £75 worth of vouchers and a fabulous cut-glass trophy.

The ‘grand finale’ was to announce an overall winner who received a huge cheque for £1,000! (Sponsored by Nottinghamshire Training Network and Nottinghamshire Learning and Skills Council). All of the Awards were presented by the sponsors and Jo and Twiggy from 96 Trent FM!

The finalists (pictured below) had been selected from over 200 entries and had gone through two stages of judging to become a finalist and attend the prestigious WBL Oscar style WBL Awards at the East Midlands Conference Centre.
