Exam Results Podcast!!

Result!!! Connexions’ first podcast to help young people examine their options at results time

The summer holidays might be in full swing, but August is an anxious time for many young people and parents as they wait for exam results, especially GCSE and A level students.

With A level results out on Thursday August 17th, and GCSE results on Thursday 24th, Connexions Nottinghamshire is on-hand to offer advice and guidance for that next important step.

And this year, Connexions has extended its advice and support service for 13-19 year olds by utilising the latest digital technology, creating its first Results Podcast to help young people decide what to do next.

All they need to do is go to Connexions’ website for young people, and download the podcast for advice on what to do after they get their results – go now to podcast.

The podcast is an innovative new way to communicate information to young people, but it isn’t replacing the existing services. If they can’t access the podcast, they can just go to their nearest Connexions centre, where a Personal Adviser will be able to help them by discussing all the different options available in the light of their exam results.

Connexions Personal Adviser, Rebecca Smith, says:

“When you’re faced with the reality of your exam results, please don't panic. Whatever grades you’ve got, whether they’re better or worse than you expected, you’ve still got a wide choice of things to do.

“If you haven’t got the grades you needed to take up a college or university place, don’t worry! There are loads of options to consider, including the world of work, apprenticeships, a gap year, volunteering or the University clearing system.

“There’s no reason why you can’t still go on to pursue your chosen career. If you are concerned, it can help to talk through your choices with someone who has some experience of the system and can offer sound advice.

“That might be a teacher, a parent, or an older brother or sister, but Connexions’ Personal Advisers are available to provide expert guidance on what your next step should be, and have all the tools at their fingertips to point you in the right direction.”
