Whilst giving students an effective voice in school matters is the job of all staff there is obviously a need for both structures and coordination.
The most evident and formal structure for participation is the student council; all Nottinghamshire Secondary Schools have a representative body of this nature. In its most evolved form pupils take full responsibility for the running of the council with clear lines of communication both within the student (class councils for example) and the adult populations. Meetings will be held regularly with wide ranging agendas and real sense of active and responsible involvement in important school matters.
