Our structure reflects the strength of our strategic partnership whilst enabling local needs, relationships and diversity to be fully represented in the delivery of Connexions. Engagement with lifelong learning is promoted and delivered through GuideLine Career Services Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary.

The board
The Board of Directors is the body in which rests the responsibility for governing the company for its long-term strategic direction as contrasted with its operational delivery. It will be the accountable body for delivery of the Connexions Service in Nottinghamshire and will take direct responsibility for GuideLine, which will be a wholly owned subsidiary targeted on lifelong guidance and commercial projects. Directors will not be appointed to represent their parent organisations but for their ability to influence the quality of services provided by the company to the local community. The Board takes responsibility for:
- Determining the company's strategic objectives and strategic priorities.
- Appointing the company's top management
- Ensuring value for money and proper deployment of resources.
- Monitoring progress towards the achievement of objectives and compliance with policies.
- Giving account of the company's activities to the parties to whom an account is properly due.
Local management committees (LMCs)
There are two Local Management Committees, based on the boundaries of the two local authorities in the county. Each LMC oversees a number of more local delivery units, which are co-terminus with other key partners. The LMCs are the primary vehicle for identifying need, planning provision and drawing together effective partnerships. The breadth of stakeholder interests engaged in the process will greatly strengthen them. Each LMC has developed its own Business Plan, drawing on the particular needs of its own communities and the unique structures and resources which can be aligned with Connexions by the relevant Local Authority. The functions of each LMC are supported by a management sub-group of the Committee. Each LMC:
- Ensures that the views of young people are at the heart of planning and service delivery.
- Develops and delivers a Business Plan for the LMC area, which forms part of the overall Connexions Business Plan.
- Regularly audits needs and provision with a view to continuous improvement.
- Encourages partners to contribute resources and align their own provision with Connexions wherever possible.
- Facilitates partnership working amongst all agencies that provide services to young people, taking particular care to engage the community and voluntary sector.
- Facilitates communications with their own organisations and constituencies.
- Initiates task groups and sub-committees as appropriate.
- Reviews and revises its membership as appropriate, taking account of the key stakeholders
